Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in the Indian economy by driving employment, innovation, and industrial growth. To promote and support these businesses, the Government of India introduced Udyam Registration, an online registration system replacing the earlier Udyog Aadhaar. It provides legal recognition, tax benefits, and access to government schemes for MSMEs. Registration is voluntary but highly beneficial for businesses seeking financial aid, subsidies, and protection under various government policies.
MSMEs are categorized based on investment in plant & machinery/equipment and annual turnover:
1. Micro Enterprises:
o Investment: Up to ₹1 crore
o Turnover: Up to ₹5 crore
2. Small Enterprises:
o Investment: Up to ₹10 crore
o Turnover: Up to ₹50 crore
3. Medium Enterprises:
o Investment: Up to ₹50 crore
o Turnover: Up to ₹250 crore
